Canvas 5's Strong Sales Point To BroadeningAppeal In Graphics Software MarketNext generation award winning graphics program experiences torrid growth in new product sales since September release.
Las Vegas, NV, November 18, 1996 - Canvas, always a favorite among mainstream users, has expanded its foothold in the design graphics software market. After incorporating powerful new high-end features in its latest version 5.0, Canvas is now being targeted to the design graphics community as well. Since the release of Canvas 5, sales of the fully-integrated graphical application have been brisk as consumers of Canvas 3.5 are quickly upgrading to 5.0 and new users are purchasing the product in record proportions. "While we were expecting demand to be strong for Canvas 5, we never anticipated quite this much activity," said Manny Menendez, president of Deneba Software. "The response to the product has exceeded company expectations. Canvas 5 has attracted a new breed of users in the coveted graphical design software market, allowing Deneba to make a serious dent in our competitors market share." A substantial increase in Canvas 5 new product sales is causing a stir in the design community. Designer and computer artists are leaving competitive applications and flocking to Canvas 5. Menendez attributes the influx of new users to improvements made to the program. "Canvas 5 is the next generation in design programs. It's not just Canvas 3.5 with a few new tools and features. It's a completely redesigned application, re-written from the ground up to put more powerful features at a users fingertips while making it easier to use." Deneba's new customer unit sales increased 89% in September and October 1996, compared to this same 60 day period the previous year. This significant growth can be attributed to the successful launch of Canvas 5. Deneba's Canvas 5 upgrade sales are also moving at a record clip. One reseller, Mac Connection, reported Canvas 5 upgrade sales in excess of 7,000 units within the last 60 days. According to Patrick Kevin, Mac/PC Connection Product Director for Graphics Software, Canvas 5 was the leading unit sales performer in the graphics software category in September and October. Deneba reports fulfillment of almost 50,000 upgrades in only two months of activity, with several thousand back-ordered, and a strong flow of new orders coming in seven days a week. "We feel extremely positive about the order volume for both new units and upgrades so far," said Joe Curley, Deneba director of sales. Canvas 5 should receive an infusion of new sales after a recent November 4th, 1996 Macweek Review, in which the program received a four diamond rating. The reviewer, Ben Long stated, "Deneba Software has taken it (Canvas 5) further than any other product in integrating painting and drawing features into one application." Canvas is the world's leading integrated graphics application, with versions available for Windows NT and 95, Macintosh and Power Macintosh. Canvas incorporates illustration, design, publishing, image-editing and presentation features into a single integrated application. Canvas 5 versions for Windows and Macintosh are priced at $599.95 (SRP) each. Deneba Software is based in Miami, Florida.
